Introduction About Our school
Vantage Point Academy (VPA) was born out of a mother's intense passion for excellence in education and a father's zest for technology in leveling the playing field. VPA sets a unique standard in re-defining our approach to education with the integration of best practices and the introduction of research proven new cutting-edge models in education for the all-round development of our students. At VPA, we simply promise you excellence in education as we challenge, engage, motivate and equip your child for success in a global economy!
Vantage Point Academy, Gwarinpa Abuja was founded on September 22, 2014 by Mr. and Barr (Mrs) David. The school opened with ten pupils and nine staff on ground.
The school grew to a population of seventy – five pupils by the beginning of the next academic session and has since continued to grow numerically and in all ramifications
The various streams run by the school currently are: the Early Years, Grade School, High School and Enhancement Centre. The school has a tradition of hosting at least one major event each term, such as Career Day, Cultural Day, Custume Day, Sports Fiesta, End of year party, and Graduation Ceremony
The first pupil to graduate is Miss Stella Feboke who was also the valedictorian for 2014/2015. This was followed by Miss Elavivah Okoro, the valedictorian for the 2015/2016 academic session
The Vantage Point High School came on board on September 14, 2016 with the mission of being a school for the gifted and talented. It was opened to further enshrine the culture of VPA into pupils from the academy desiring to continue in the legendary values and qualitative education Vantage Point Academy stands for and it is open to students from all walks of life.
Part of the uniqueness of VPA is the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) programme done by the upper primary and high school students; it prepares them for entrepreneurial adventures in life. They are also taught skills like photography, fashion designing, baking and soap making with practical applicability
The Davids' Scholarship for high performing pupils in public schools from indigent backgrounds was instituted on December 14 , 2015 with the following as the first recipients: Miss Rachel Sunday, Miss Amarachukwu Madubike and Miss Kamsi Bianca Mc’Atico; they were granted admission into Vantage Point Academy and the scholarship spans into the completion of their Junior Secondary School Education.
VPA has gone on to win competitions stressing the quality of education received by her students. In November, 2016 the school came second in the primary category of the spelling bee competition organised by SpellQuest Nigeria. Miss Amarachukwu Madubike won the coveted prize for the school
The first ever Vantage Sports Fiesta was held on March 12, 2016 with Delphinium(Blue) house coming first. Club activities are also very strong in the school. The various clubs include ballet,teakwondo, swimming, creative art, press and drama, music, home makers, young entrepreneurs, math and chess, JETS, ICT Club.
The main tilt of the school is to equip the students with practical technological knowledge. This has begun in practice as our Junior Secondary School students currently write their examinations as Computer Based Test (CBT), with professionalism and dexterity.
Reading, public speaking and creative writing are other strong areas of the school, with full concentration on all school subjects. The school only engages qualified teachers and assigns them to areas of best fit. Vantage Point Academy is poised to engage, motivate and equip our young learners for success by exposing them to global trends and international standards.
